ESR 325 Kit Jowens Posted February 25, 2019 I'm looking at the ESR 325 kit. I've read that there have been many tuning issues and hard to get running correctly. Has anyone been able to get one setup correctly, and if so, what did it take? Squish correction? Jetting or Electron? Timing?
Bore the cylinder, install the new piston and other parts, and go riding. The kit increases displacement to 233cc, although BBR calls it their 240 kit. Price is about $170. The Engines Only kit includes a re-sleeved cylinder (exchange), new high compression piston with rings and clips, all top end gaskets and jetting.Continuing this Magnum 293 thread & hopefully shedding some light/experience on this as it includes two identical 2011 YZ250 bikes with two different top-end big bore builds. A 2011 YZ293 Athena big bore kit (approx $1300 w/tax) vs a 2011 YZ293 Magnum big bore kit (approx $750 w/ tax). A big bore top end rebuild w/ gaskets for either kit is between $200-$275.Max-RPMs is the best for big bore kits IMO. I think the 139cc kit is the best bang for your money. The 144cc kit is very torquey and feels flat on top, the 151cc bore and stroker kit rips, but has to be ridden high in the RPMs, the 167cc kit is like a small 250, but expensive. I have tested all these on YZs.Surfing Amazon a few years ago I found a new forged 94mm “c” piston from the manufacturer Vertex that supplies Cylinder Works big bore kits for around $30. Arrived, was legit and was in the OE box. Couple months later I bought a Caltric 94mm bore cylinder and put it all together with new single base gasket and Cometic top end gaskets.I just put a ESR 325 big bore kit on my 2019 YZ250X. I am very pleased with the kit, but not truly sure what to do with the stock power valve actuator assembly. ... Yessir it most certainly is! I have the 38mm HV and it's an awesome product. Normally with big bores it is endless tinkering and jetting to get it running right, but with the lectron I leaned it out 1/2 turn from base settings (since the big bore is sucking more fuel and air) and set the power jet to 1 1/8 turns out.
